Dubai ruler recently announced to launch a Mega City Project with investment of multi billion dollars; but, interestingly the city intend to cater to Tourism, Retail, Leisure, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. A right cocktail for faster development of a region. Though, the Idea may be equally or more relevant to India; but, when all four Indian metros have a crying need of huge investment to improve the quality of life, planning for a new city with a billion dollar investment could be dogmatic. But, India could do next best thing; convert an existing city with natural bounty into a hub for Research & Development, Art & Culture. And, LAVASA city near Pune fits the bill very eminently which is in the verge of completion; though, got little delayed on account of avoidable controversy on environmental concurrence. However, LAVASA city which is surrounded by green mountains and scores of natural streams and beautiful lake with close proximity to academic and industrial city Pune and Mumbai being a four hours drive must be very Ideal place to attract Top Researchers, Artist, Authors, Painters and Musicians Globally if GoI can provide free housing and Income tax holiday for 10 years with the rider of filing patents in India. In that case very soon India could give Western Nations a run for its money on the issue of technology, art and literature.
