Kejriwal has created a formidable reputation for himself by
exposing high and mighty in the Govt. and in the corporate sector and brought
awareness to millions of television infected homes with generous help of TRP
obsessed electronic media by dedicating a few OB Vans to Kejriwal and Co. But,
corruption does not show any sign of relenting; as we speak or write millions
and millions of cash would be changing hands in between people in Business and Government.
People in Govt. need not prepare a balance sheet, no P/L Account and don’t have
to announce quarterly result and regularly meet investors and analysts; but,
business have to do all those and more, and therefore they have enormous
pressure on them to perform by ‘hook or crook’ and people in Govt. have to keep
their political bosses in good humor and therefore, a marriage of convenience
emerge and has been fortified for a long long time and that would need multiple
strategy and attack on multiple points at the same time to become effective.
Corruption in Govt. can also be addressed in three easy
steps; first, improve efficiency & effectiveness in Govt. (make all
transaction in Govt. digital in one stroke) and see slow reduction in incidence
of corruption. Second, bring in a sense of ownership in Govt. and third, create
a ‘team spirit’ and culture of working in a team, just the way private sector
does. All said and done, it is not easy to implement such policy in Govt.; but,
senior leadership should have the vision, mission for the country in this
regard. You need to sell a vision to the senior functionaries in the Govt. for
example “best Govt. on earth”/ ‘most efficient & effective bureaucracy’
ect. And, facilitate intercourse between private and public sector to acquire
the transparent and efficient culture and create a motivating and inspired
environment in Govt. to reduce and eventually prevent the scope and scale of
corruption that we see even to day; as a result of which we see millions of
babies die after birth due to poor nutrition, people go to bed in hungry
stomach, people are forced to live on the open air on the roads of cities and
slums, our National High Ways are pot holed, our rivers full of polluted water,
our unmanned railway level crossings rail travels have become killing field of
innocents and above all in the land of Gandhi & Nehru, a mother find
herself alone and helpless when she is being forced to kill her daughter before
or after birth. The rich, the famous and the powerful should see the writing on
the wall; if things do not change soon enough the poor and weak would shade
their fear for once and would get together and take the laws into their hands
and challenge the lives of the corrupts and the rich. That has happened before
and could happen again; if it were not prevented. After all, history does
repeat itself.
