Political parties and politicians in India have
played “vote bank” politics since independence. They have attempted to polarize
electorates on the basis of religion, region and caste; however, they have
scrupulously left the ‘gender’ based polarization. The growing violence against
women across the country which has thus far defied any permanent solutions asks
for an ‘All Women Political Party’ to polarize the voters on the
basis of ‘gender’. If nothing else, this should wake up political parties from
their deep slumber on the issue of ‘safety’ of women in the country who
constitute 49% of our population.
