GIRLS-READY 2 FIGHT?

Bikash Choudhury

What is the DNA of rape? And, what is common to a retired Supreme Court Judge, An Editor-in-Chief, and a gang of five young people from slums of Delhi? They are all violators of Woman’s body and they all have a typical mindset to enjoy sensual pleasure at the expense of another person illegally and against the social norm. Why this problem persists with greater number with each passing day? Because, all our institutions have taken the sexual molestation & rape very very lightly; including the Police, the judiciary, Medical Practioners and even our Paternalistic Society. Another reason could be that Women feel ashamed and incapable of protesting loudly against the violators of their body & mind; though, the physical power between men and women remain almost same. It is high time to change the mindset of women and need of learning to protest as aggressively as they could in face off with any violator of their honor. And, things could change fast for the better in year’s time. Girls- Are you ready to fight back?

GOD WITH FEET OF CLAY

                             BIKASH CHOUDHURY

God has also feet of clay? The god of investigative journalism in India, Tarun Tejpal, once a victim of coercive Govt. has now turned a full circle to become an accused in a case of sexual assault and rape allegedly with one of his own female colleague at a Hotel in Panjim, Goa on 7th of this month; the woman journalist is all of 23 yrs, daughter of an ex-colleague and best friend of his own daughter. All this happened at the venue of an International Literary event “Think 2013” organized by Tehelka; which remain a much admired in literary and Intellectual community for its content and the discourse. Sexual excesses on a colleague by non-other than the founder and the leader of the organization was anti-climax enough ; the subsequent  cover up bid by the violator and his accomplice, Managing Editor of Tehelka, Shoma Choudhury was against the grain of the kind of journalism they have so far so vociferously profess while practice exactly the opposite. Whatever, Tarun Tejpal has done is disgraceful enough and quite unforgivable knowing him as an Author of repute and the toil and tribulation taken to start the kind of Magazine the Tehelka has come  to become from scratch. The role of its Managing Editor in the whole affair has remained much to be desired as she was found to be extremely defensive; though she has all along been looked upon as a staunch and articulate votary of issues pertaining to “Atrocities on Women”. This is just like Elephant having one tooth to show off and another for internal consumption. Tutoring millions of tele-audience about fare and fearless journalism is one thing; but, practicing the same on one’s own self/ organization is quite another. Apparently, she would argue “no surgeon has ever operated on one’s own body. The moral of the story is Mr.Tarun Tejpal, Ms.Shoma Choudhury have disappointed millions people in India who consider them as their role model. The law of the land would take its course with both of them in course of time; but, the verdict of people’s court is all ready out in open. May be, another Tehelka like media would take birth to do justice to the prevalent hypocrisy on ‘atrocities with women’ inside the great and grand portals of Media in India.

SACHIN—LIFE BEYOND CRICKET

BIKASH CHOUDHURY

A  Cricket  crazy Nation gave a very emotional farewell to its “God of Cricket” which was touching and  poignant ; and a grateful Nation bestowed on him the highest civilian honour the “Bharat Ratna”; a fitting  farewell gift to a legend in his own life time, in a life apan of just forty years. Of which he dedicated 24 years to the game between 22 yards.Outstanding Cricketers have come and gone;but, no one like Sachin who entertained an entire Nation with his impeccable cricketing skills and thus occupied the hearts and minds of a billion plus people in India and equal in numbers beyond our borders. He has become an unequal sporting Icon and a sporting ambassador of India the Cricketing World looked upon to him all across the World. Is it only Cricket for which people World over lovehim? Or, apart from being an outstanding and phenomenal Cricketer; he is a human being par excellence with a kind heart and extra ordinary intelligence who respects fellow men and the nature. He may be the “Inspirational Leader” India awaits.
Anjali, the better half of Sachin said “ She could imagine cricket without Sachin; but, can’t imgin Sachin without Cricket”. This would be slightly unfare to the talent and the potential of the Master Blaster; though, he was known for his cricketing skills and dedication to the game in the first phase of his life spanning forty years. May be, in the past he played with a bat and ball; but, in future he could play equally well with his inspiring words and young minds inour schools and colleges. The rote learning that has been the bane of our educational system; which has nothing to do with individual interest, passion or persuasion. As a result of which there is an acute shortage of Innovation-Excellence-Enterprise in our society; which needs to be changed and changed fast enough to have a tryst with the destiny of India as Global Economic and Political power in this century by resolving ‘problems’ that imped our growth and transformation.
Sachin could play a very important role in inspiring our young minds with his extra ordinary story of his life. He can open the “windows to the minds of young students” with his seer presence. It has been observed that whenever or where ever Sachin meets the young people; he is able to create enthusiasm, excitement and joy all around. Which is just enough to plant a seed in their minds to explore about their innate interest and strength and to follow that with passion in their respective chosen fields to create another “Sachin” for India in each walks of life which could make India much more richer in wealth, wisdom and knowledge;once upon a time it used to be known World over. Lets imagin Sachin beyond cricket and that should be  a fitting tribute to a man of Sachin’s simplicity and eminence.

HINDI VS ENGLISH

Mulayam Singh Yadav's recent utterance of
banning English Language from Parliament may be Politically motivated
and one very extreme position; however, it has some merit which needs
deeper and serious consideration. The way English is taking over our
social, economic and political life, in next 50 years we will only
hear English speeches from Indian Parliament. And, therefore, there is
a need to encourage Hindi and other languages as mode of transaction
in our Parliament. If left to technocrats a real time Translation
Protocol could be designed for Hindi, other Indian Languages and
English for the benefit of our Parliamentarians. There is also a need
to popularize Hindi as a link language between other Indian Languages
in place of English; as that would over a period of time strengthen
Indian Languages which is being hammered by market forces and could
meet an untimely death, if we don't act now. Can we afford to tolerate
a Postgraduate in Sanskrit Language to work as a cook to support his
family and a graduate in Odiya Language as an Apartment attendant to
support him self in this city of Bhubaneswar?

After Diwali

Bikash Choudhury

The Tide of Diwali touched the shores, animate matters exploded with joy

Just as the sea beach get excited with each touch of tidal waves

Waves also return into the sea collecting all happiness & joy

Diwali is over taking away all the euphoria within self

Few houses seen lit up when eyes travel far and wide

Roads left deserted in somber mood and deep calm envelop the city

Never seen or heard Bhubaneswar so quite

Mind no more restless, nor heart bubbles with enthusiasm

Laws of nature what goes up has to come down

Whatever or whoever comes to this world has to bid adieu one moment

It is a morning after Diwali

NUCLEAR HOLOCAUST OVER SOUTH ASIA

BIKASH CHOUDHURY

Pakistan at its old game once again; it’s military and ISI have not reconciled to their military defeat against India four times in the past. It is now trying its best to instigate India for a Military adventure that could give an opportunity for Pakistan to use its Nuclear Arsenals. Investigation of recent serial bomb blast at Patna, Bihar on 27th October 2013 now points to ISI backed home grown terrorist group Indian Mujahidin (IM).Further, Indian Intelligence agencies have stumbled upon an “ISI plan” to use Khalistan Terrorist group to target Narendra Modi, Prime Ministerial candidate of principal opposition party in India, BJP. In the past ISI has been successful in executing 26/11 at Mumbai, where 160 innocent people lost their lives including 5 Americans and a few Israelis. ISI was also instrumental in sheltering the chief conspirator of 9/11 at New York for 10 years in a garrison town at Abbotbad in Pakistan. Be that as it may, the sinister design of ISI to target top Indian leaders and by any chance, if it were successful to eliminate any top Indian Leadership; then, under the pressure of public opinion Indian Govt. would have to strike back swiftly and strongly with its conventional Military superiority. That could bring Pakistan Military to the brink and can offer an excuse to activate the “Nuclear Button” as Pakistan does not have a “No First Use Policy” and the Nuclear Command rests with its Military leadership. Hypothetically, this could lead to a very dangerous and long drawn Nuclear Warfare in South Asia; which needs to be averted at all cost. Americans have the moral responsibility to prevent such a sinister design; as they do for the use of Chemical weapons.
